The DPI Grapes Team recently extended the Grape and Wine Research Development Corporations "Water and Vine" seminars beyond the Murray Darling Basin, with seminars held in the Bendigo and Geelong Wine Regions.

Further Grape Phylloxera Detection

The Victorian Department of Primary Industries (DPI) advises that a detection of the grapevine pest phylloxera has been made in an existing control area in the Yarra Valley, north-east of Melbourne.
The Department of Primary Industries will once again by running one day workshops which provides the opportunity for growers, Managers and other wine industry personnel to gain grape Phylloxera identification and management skills during information and practical based sessions.
The Victorian Department of Primary Industries in conjunction with the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation are proud to announce the release of a DVD highlighting information presented at the Smoke Effect Technical Workshop which was held in Melbourne in July 2008.
The DPI Grapes Team have teamed with Provisor to bring the Greenhouse Gas Awareness Training - Courses for the Wine Industry to Victoria in January. The half day course tailored for wineries including a comprehensive reference manual.
The second session of the GWRDC's Water and Vine- Managing the Challenge workshops will be conducted in Wangaratta on Thursday the 18th of December at the Quality Hotel Gateway. The event will begin with a complimentary breakfast at 8.30am and will conclude at 12.30pm with lunch supplied.
The Yarra Valley Wine Growers Association will be hosting a seminar in January titled "Other Bunch Rots" to be presented by Dr Mary Cole and Steven Whitmore. A date for the seminar is TBC, but an outline of the day will include:
A meeting will be held at Swinburne University in Lilydale on Monday 15th December at 9.00am relating to recent Phylloxera detections and to outline proposed changes to the current Maroondah Phylloxera Infested Zone.
The Mornington Peninsula Vignerons Association Technical Committee has initiated a workshop, which will be conducted by James Wright on Friday 16 January at Dromana Estate.
