Grape Harvester Prosecution

Guilty Verdict

A warning to people tempted to illegally move grapevine material or equipment was sounded in Wangaratta Magistrates Court last week.

A viticultural contractor was fined $7000 after pleading guilty to failing to obtain a permit from the Victorian Department of Primary Industries (DPI) before moving his used grape harvester out of a Phylloxera Infested Zone (PIZ).

 A revised Summary of Phylloxera Movement Conditions has been released.

The latest version is 8.1, dated 4th January 2008, and it replaces any earlier versions you may have. The version number can be found on the bottom right corner of the front page.

PLEASE DISCARD ALL EARLIER VERSIONS OF THE 'SUMMARY OF PHYLLOXERA MOVEMENT CONDITIONS' AND REPLACE THEM WITH VERSION 8.1.

Carbon Footprint

Protocols and Calculator

Version 1.1 of the Greenhouse Gas Accounting Protocol for the International Wine Industry, Version 1.1 of the calculator, and a new 15 page User Guide are now available on the WFA website www.wfa.org.au/environment.htm.

This version incorporates amendments made following trials of the protocol and tool throughout January, and is also being released in the NZ, US and South African industries.

Funding for the Australian industry’s share of the project was provided by the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation.
